Forget po’ boys and sloppy joes—the humble turkey sandwich is America’s #1 sandwich of choice, according to menu research firm Datassential.

The firm really did its homework—it compiled the responses of thousands of Americans who’d eaten a sandwich in the last two weeks—but we’re a bit surprised with the results. Turkey, more popular than peanut butter and jelly? In greater demand than grilled cheese, which comes stumbling across the finish line at number 8? Even more beloved than chicken salad, which as of this summer was the top-searched sandwich on Yahoo?

Apparently so. And it’s not even the season for Thanksgiving leftovers. Hats off to you, turkey sandwich: We underestimated you.
