David Letterman Relives His Famous Taco Bell Stint for Last Show

David Letterman’s last show was Wednesday night, the final culmination of weeks of tributes that included chef Daniel Boulud’s breakdown of a disastrous appearance in the 90s, Martha Stewart’s highlight reel of her nearly 50 guest spots, and Bill Murray jumping out of a cake.

And given Dave’s affinity for food-related segments, it only makes sense that on his final show, the late night legend aired one of his most popular clips of all time: his stint as an order taker at a Taco Bell drive-thru.

Let’s just say that things don’t go smoothly. He manages to tick off a bunch of people, including one lady who just drives off. He does, however, get a few laughs (and not just from the studio audience). Only a single customer thinks his voice sounds familiar.

“Are you Howard Stern?” she asks. Back in the studio, the audience roars with laughter.
