It’s Friday. You made it. It’s also happy hour, and you want something at once more serious and more celebratory than a glass of Chardonnay. So make an Aperol Spritz.

The classic Italian aperitif is slightly bitter—Aperol, which is similar to both Campari and Cynar, is made from oranges, herbs and spices—and all-the-way refreshing. The spirit was born in 1919, but the spritz didn’t come until 30 years later. And thank the Italians it did: it glows a vibrant orangey-pink color. (Now that says spring garden party.)

Perhaps the best part is that it’s super easy to make. If you can remember “3, 2, 1” you can remember this recipe.

No wait! The best part is that, given the easy ratio recipe, you can quadruple it, turning it into a pitcher drink.

Happy happy hour.

Aperol Spritz

3 parts prosecco
2 parts Aperol
1 dash soda
1 orange slice

Put some ice and the orange slice in a glass of your choice. Then, build the cocktail with prosecco, then Aperol, and finish with a dash of soda. Drink!
