You’ve been throwing back brews every Sunday (and sometimes Mondays, and, um, Thursdays) this NFL season. And they’ve been great! Thank you, America, for undergoing a craft beer renaissance these past few years. But this Sunday is the Super Bowl, so consider upping your drinks game. Upping it, like, with a Boston shaker and a Hawthorne strainer and a rocks glass.
It’s time to pair football and cocktails. Not only because Super Bowl Sunday is a special occasion, but also because, contrary to popular belief, not all football fans are beer drinkers. (We know. MIND = BLOWN.)
Bloody Mary: Start the day with a classic Bloody. The bracing horseradish will clear your head of all else but the game in front of you. IT’S TIME TO FOCUS.

Margarita: Coarse salt and a good dose of lime juice both help cut through all of those rich game-day foods.
Black Velvet: Just because you’re taking a step beyond beer doesn’t mean there can’t be beer in your drink. Start with Guinness; top with Champagne (Champagne!). Done.

Michelada: We’d be hard-pressed to find a better pairing for guacamole. This version of the classic Mexican cocktail involves beer, fresh limes, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and a couple dashes of hot pepper sauce.
Negroni Punch: Hot wings are great for your spirits and your taste buds, but not for your tummy. The Campari in this large-format (read: serves all your friends in one shot) Negroni will help settle it.

Irish Coffee: After all is said and done, you’re going to need a little pick-me-up—but not a sober-up, at least not quite yet. Coffee + whiskey is just the ticket.
