ADAM SHAPIRO: But we want to get to that very important top story, and that has to do with how people are reacting to last night's debate. Jessica Smith was watching that and is watching what's happening today as well, Jessica.

JESSICA SMITH: Yeah, Adam, this was a much more structured debate than what we saw the first time around, and they were able to really get into the substance of issues. President Trump it seems listen to his advisors that told him he would do better if he did not interrupt as frequently, if he did not try to talk over Vice President Joe Biden, and the two candidates made their final pitch to voters on a variety of issues from the pandemic to foreign policy to racism.

Joe Biden blasted President Trump over his handling of the pandemic, and President Trump really zeroed in on the fact that Vice President Biden has been in Washington for decades. He hammered on the fact that he is a lifelong politician, and then the two went on to spar over issues-- taxes, climate change, and the economy. Let's watch.

- But I'm cutting taxes, and he wants to raise everybody's taxes. And he wants to put new regulations on everything. He will kill it. If he gets in, you will have a depression the likes of which you've never seen, your 401(k)s will go to hell, and it will be a very, very sad day for this country.

- We can grow this economy. We can deal with the systemic racism. At the same time, we can make sure that our economy is being run and moved and motivated by clean energy, creating millions of new jobs. And that's the fact. That's what we're going to do.

JESSICA SMITH: Now one other interesting moment in that debate was when Vice President Biden said that he would phase out the oil industry. He later clarified those comments to reporters, saying he would actually end subsidies for fossil fuels. But President Trump seized on that moment during the debate, telling voters in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Texas to remember that comment from the former vice president.
