Varney: America shouldn't be subjected to 'bogus' impeachment trial
The American people should not be subjected to this bogus and contrived impeachment trial, FOX Business’ Stuart Varney argued in his latest “My Take.”
“Here we are, stuck with hour after hour of repetitive argument that’s going nowhere. What are the Democrats thinking? Surely this is a case of Trump derangement syndrome,” Varney said.
Since President Trump came down the golden escalator in Trump tower announcing his candidacy, Democrats have been “thrashing around,” trying to get him on anything they can, according to Varney. Now, with the possibility of him winning reelection, they must remove the president from office, he added.

Democrats charge Trump with abusing his power for his phone call asking the Ukrainians to investigate Hunter Biden’s role with the energy company Burisma, according to Varney.
“I’ll make the judgment that this does not meet any constitutional standard for impeachment, but it lays down a terrible precedent. Any future president can now be charged with abuse of power for playing political hardball,” Varney argued.

After only three days, the impeachment has devolved into farce with, he suggested. Senators are required to sit in silence for the proceedings without reading material, cell phones or coffee. For sustenance, they rely on water, milk and a small candy drawer, he added.
“And of course the whole thing is breaking down. They’re taking very long bathroom breaks, some are dozing off [and] Sen. Feinstein ‘illegally’ left the chamber an hour early,” Varney said.

All the while, the impeachment managers “drone on and on and on.” Despite the Trump haters at CNN and MSNBC hoping to arrest the country’s attention, the American people are not gripped, Varney argued.
“Very few are watching -- 11 million spread over six networks on Wednesday and I’ll bet those numbers go down,” he said.
