The Super Bowl is already America’s biggest sporting event with tickets more costly than ever — but now, there’s a new way to celebrate the big game for those that also have the biggest pockets.
The New York City steakhouse that last year offered the world’s most expensive Thanksgiving dinner at $181,000 is back with an over-the-top proposal for fans looking to drop some serious cash on its richest-ever Super Bowl feast.
This year, Old Homestead Steakhouse says it has already sold two of its $154,000 Super Bowl dinner experiences that boasts both a plethora of some of the most expensive meats, spices, wines, and cheeses imported from around the globe and an embarrassment of future riches, including four tickets to Super Bowl LVI in 2022 with round-trip first-class airfare.
“Well, $154,000 indicates the great preparation and all of the luxurious foods that we have,” Old Homestead co-owner Marc Sherry told Yahoo Finance. “Think about the name — ‘the Super Bowl’ — it’s the greatest piece of entertainment in the world and I wanted someone... to enjoy the most opulent and expensive food and ingredients imported from all parts of the world.”
The dinner for 12 kicks off with a stretch limo ride, stocked with $1,200 bottles of Cristal champagne and $750-per-pound Wagyu beef sliders, to the the Old Homestead in New York City’s meatpacking district. The dinner that ensues is almost unfathomable.
First, appetizers begin with deviled eggs served five ways: topped with gold flakes, or $1,450-per-ounce Middle East saffron, $2,500-per-ounce black truffle shavings, $450-per-pound, imported Japanese black pig and $250-per-pound cheese imported from Switzerland, or Caspian Sea caviar that costs $1,700 an ounce.
Nachos, normally a Super Bowl afterthought, are elevated with prime rib shavings, a $98-per-pound Stilton blue cheese and a homemade salsa that comes infused with a $2,700 tequila. Even the pizza, topped with porterhouse cuts, features $250-per-pound Costoluto Genovese tomatoes and imported Caciocavallo Podolico Italian cheese that costs $50 per pound.
Main courses continue the opulence with imported and stuffed lobster tails from South Africa, mixed with truffle mac and cheese made with $200-per-pound Wyke Farms cheddar cheese from the U.K. A paired seafood tower also boasts $130 king crab legs, and $100 oysters. Per usual, the Japanese-prized Wagyu Old Homestead is famous for is also to be expected among top-priced fixings like chili with beans imported from the Middle East that fetch $40 per pound.
The experience also features $20,000 in sports memorabilia and jerseys, showcased by signed helmets from both Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. Whoever purchases the ultimate Super Bowl package will also get a 2020 Chevy Silverado with a Viking BBQ grill and a case of burgers and beer to ensure he or she isn’t out of options next year if the splurge breaks the bank, Sherry explains.
Last but not least, the experience also includes a ring almost as priceless as the one both teams will be vying for — a $15,500 Van Cleef & Arpels ring that Sherry jokes will need to be gifted if anyone buys the $154,000 package without consulting a spouse.
