Using data from J.D. Power and Associates, GOBankingRates has put together a list of the manufacturers with the least number of problems in the first three months. These brands' cars came in under the industry average of 166 problems per 100 new cars. Take a look if you need a reliable vehicle.

10. Chevrolet

  • Problems per 100 vehicles in first 3 months: 171

Chevrolet makes some very reliable vehicles, though the manufacturer trails just a little behind the best on the list. If you're looking for a reliable large SUV though, you may want to check out the Chevy Suburban, which achieved the title of most reliable large SUV of 2022.

From the interior design to the reliability of its cars, Cadillac is known for producing impressionable luxury cars like their XT5, which was ranked #1 in reliability for midsize premium SUVs in 2022.

  • Problems per 100 vehicles in first 3 months: 166

This American-based car company is known for making trucks that can handle intense conditions of work and weather. Even their other well known car models share similar quality, like the Dodge Charger which is ranked third in reliability for large cars in 2022. With stylishness and durability, Dodge makes itself an enticing option for many.

Porsche proves itself in reliability with the Porsche 911 which was ranked the most reliable car in 2022 according to the J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. If you are looking for well-renowned luxury, reliability and have a chunk of money to spend on a car, then you can't go wrong with this model.

Luxury doesn't mean sacrifice in reliability, and Lexus proves that with their Lexus NX; It's the highest ranked compact premium SUV for reliability in 2022.

Toyotas are known for their reliability and reasonable price. With the Toyota Corolla being the highest ranked compact car in reliability for 2022, it's no wonder it makes this spot on the list.

  • Problems per 100 vehicles in first 3 months: 155

Luxury cars don't always mean "zero problems." The trade-off to having more complex tech in your car is that the tech can require a lot of support. Despite that, Genesis still earns its spot on this list because of having 155 problems per 100 vehicles.

  • Problems per 100 vehicles in first 3 months: 148

The prolific automobile maker isn't just reliable -- several of its models made the shortlist for top vehicles in their segment (type of car). The Tuscon was rated as the best compact SUV, while the Veloster tied for best compact sporty vehicle when it comes to fewest problems.

Buick's Encore was ranked highest on the shortlist of best small SUVs. Plus, General Motors' Yantai Dongyue 2 manufacturing plant in China, which produces Buick's Envision, received an award for pushing out vehicles with the fewest defects or malfunctions.

You can't go wrong with Kia if you're looking to spend as little time as possible at the dealership. At 145 problems per 100 vehicles, this manufacturer made some of 2022's most reliable cars. It's important to keep in mind that "problems" aren't always defined as issues regarding safety. In many cases, you're looking at something trivial, like a Bluetooth connection issue.

And The Worst

If you're looking to avoid problems, though, you may want to think hard before you settle on a Volvo, Ram, Acura or Land Rover. Though these car brands may have nice models to choose from, they report more than 200 problems per 100 new vehicles.
