Fantastic news for current and future Volvo owners in the US: The company has just announced a new program called Complimentary Tow for Life, and it's exactly what it sounds like. No matter what Volvo you drive, whether it be a brand-new XC90 or a pre-war PV51 sedan, you're eligible for free towing to the nearest Volvo dealership any time you break down.
"It’s a commitment to all our customers that cars will be taken to experts who use genuine Volvo parts and repair methods," Scott Doering, head of customer service for Volvo USA, said in the announcement. "This will get the customer back on the road faster and provide assurance that the repair was done right."
For folks in the market for a vintage Volvo, this is a great time to buy-think of the peace of mind that comes with nationwide towing coverage. And for the people that already have classic Volvos: Go out and drive your cars! If something goes wrong, Volvo will help you out with a tow to the nearest dealer free of charge. Of course, your local dealer might not be well-versed in working on your 1967 122S, but for owners of more recent vehicles, or anyone thinking of embarking on a road trip, it's a nice safety net.
The free towing initiative was launched alongside Volvo USA's Car Accident Advisor program, which uses a smartphone app to document accident details, provide emergency service access, and let drivers file insurance claims. The program coincides with Volvo's lifetime parts and labor warranty, introduced in 2015 that covers certain non-wear repairs performed at dealerships.
