Zooey Deschanel & Jonathan Scott’s Christmas as an Engaged Couple Was Just as Cute as We Predicted

For all the heartbreak that came with some of 2023’s most shocking splits, there were a number of super-cute surprises from some of our favorite Hollywood couples. Among them, Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel got engaged over the summer after roughly four years together. The two celebrated their first (and what might be only) Christmas as an engaged couple just a few days ago, and the snapshot they shared on social media was just as adorable as we envisioned.

In the photo, the Property Brothers star and She & Him songstress posed in front of their gorgeously decorated Christmas tree — complete with dazzling lights, tinsel, and a stunning cascade of colors. The couple looked super cozy in their sweaters, Scott in his darker crew-neck and Deschanel in her burgundy number. Scott and Deschanel cozied up to one another and smiled for the camera. They looked so sweet, almost cute enough for a Christmas card!

“We did it…we Christmased,” reads the caption to their photo, along with a cat with heart-eyes emoji and a Christmas tree emoji. Although we’re sure Deschanel and Scott got each other lovely, heartfelt gifts this holiday season, nothing will ever replicate the touching moment Scott proposed and Deschanel said yes. Scott asked Deshcanel to marry him in August this past year. The couple was enjoying a European holiday when Scott popped the question in Edinburgh.

Prior to their engagement, Scott and Deschanel had been together for roughly four years. They met in August 2019 while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series alongside their siblings — Drew Scott and Emily Deschanel. Both Scott and Deschanel have been married before. Scott was married to Kelsy Ully from 2007 until their 2013 divorce. Deschanel was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard from 2009-2012, then married Jacob Pechenik in 2015. They divorced in 2020. The New Girl star shares two children, a son and daughter, with Pechenik.

While this is the first Christmas Scott and Deschanel will celebrate as an engaged couple, they have years ahead of them to commemorate the holiday as husband and wife — here ‘s to more Christmas pictures in front of the tree!
