Forget her box office-breaking movies, because Zoë Saldaña looked like a billion bucks in her latest red carpet ensemble. On Sunday night, the Avatar star attended the American Film Institute’s 49th Life Achievement Award ceremony, where she stunned in a sculptural gown while honoring the distinguished guest of the evening: Nicole Kidman.

For the event, Saldaña wore a dramatic dress pulled from the Victoria Beckham Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection. Styled by the actor’s frequent outfit-constructor, Petra Flannery, the showstopping look was a feast for the eyes with its organic structure and unusual patterns.

The dress was composed of a silky black material that fell in a straight line down the skirt while folding slightly inward along the waist, like the tiers of a cake. Up top, the silhouette shifted in the opposite direction, with a bustier-style bodice that angled outward from the star’s chest.

Along the neckline, a tube-like strapless hem curved around Saldaña’s frame like a harp. And as if the shape wasn’t intriguing enough, the black base was covered in strips of a white material that looked like pieces of a fishing net. To round out the fit, Saldaña wore a pair of pointy jet black heels and oval-shaped diamond drop earrings.

Saldaña wore this eye-popping dress as she delivered a speech about her Special Ops: Lioness costar. Other speakers who paid tribute to Kidman included Aaron Sorkin, Keith Urban, and Reese Witherspoon, while taped messages played from Hugh Jackman, Jane Campion, Jimmy Fallon, Cate Blanchett, George Miller, Baz Luhrmann, and Russell Crowe.
