Zoe Saldaña Provides Avatar 4 Update, Teases New Characters

Zoe Saldaña has provided a brief update on Avatar 4.
Speaking with Deadline, Saldaña was asked if she was returning to Manhattan Beach, California, in the near future to shoot scenes for the fourth movie in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise.
“We will,” Saldaña answered.
She added, “Being in Pandora has also been a very powerful and life-changing milestone in my life. I will never take that for granted.”
When asked if there would be “evil volcano people” in the forthcoming Avatar sequels, Saldaña said, “Oh, yes. Brace yourselves. And new characters, also. New actors.”
What do we know about Avatar 3 and Avatar 4?
Plot details for Avatar 4 remain under wraps at this time; although, Cameron previously confirmed to People Magazine that the film will feature a time jump.
“We did the [motion capture] capture on three and the live-action photography on three as an intermingled production with [‘Avatar: The Way of Water’], and we even did part of movie four because our young characters are all going to have a big time jump in movie four,” he said.
Following 2009’s Avatar and 2022’s Avatar: The Way of the Water, the third film in the Avatar franchise, which does not yet have an official title, is currently scheduled to be released on December 19, 2025.
Avatar 3 will introduce a volcano-dwelling “Ash People” can of Na’vi.
Cameron previously said, via Variety, about Avatar 3, “In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal.”
Avatar 4, which also does not yet have an official title, is scheduled to be released in United States theaters on December 21, 2029. A fifth Avatar movie is currently dated for December 19, 2031.
