Zoë Kravitz Reveals Dad Lenny Kravitz Nailed His Last-Minute Speech at Her Wedding

If you still have FOMO over Zoë Kravitz’s summer nuptials, this won’t help — Lenny Kravitz’s speech at his daughter’s wedding was, judging by Zoë’s description, a truly moving moment for the famous father-daughter duo. And, let’s be real, it was probably emotional for everyone else who flew to Lenny’s Paris home to be a part of the Big Little Lies star’s big day, too.
Zoë shared the story of the last-minute speech while visiting Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Wednesday. In all her wedding planning meticulousness, she had forgotten to account for one thing. “It was funny because I planned this wedding very well and the one thing I didn’t really think about was speeches just because, I don’t know, it totally slipped my mind,” she confessed, noting that she turned to mom Lisa Bonet and Lenny at the proverbial 11th hour. “The night before, I was like, I guess I should probably ask you guys to say something?”

She continued, “And so, the next day at the wedding, my mom opens like a journal and she’s written something beautiful and my dad said when he saw that, he was like, ‘S#$t.'” The pressure was on — but, ultimately, Dad came through. “It was beautiful,” Zoë gushed of Lenny’s speech. “He went up and gave one of the most beautiful speeches I’ve ever heard and I was in tears and it kind of made the night.”
The rocker’s sentimental tribute to his only child clearly packed a sentimental punch, which is especially impressive when you consider he threw it together in less than 24 hours. If we’re really being honest, though, we didn’t expect anything less. Zoë and Lenny share one of Hollywood’s sweetest father-daughter relationships.
In 2011, he credited her with helping him stay clean and sober, sharing that her moving in with him when she was 11 years old forced him to “change his life” and shift his focus from his hard-partying ways to Zoë. In 2014, she revealed that the two hit up a tattoo parlor in New York City to get fresh ink together.
And most recently, in celebration of Zoë’s 31st birthday in December, Lenny posted a nostalgic throwback photo of him holding her in his arms when she was just a little girl. In the heartwarming snapshot, they appear to be dancing. Lenny’s caption? “Another year of dancing through this life with you my love.”
