Zoë Kravitz compares seeing an ex to Braveheart in new High Fidelity teaser

Zoë Kravitz is geeking out over Braveheart and freaking out over an ex-boyfriend in the new teaser for the upcoming Hulu show High Fidelity.

“I ran into my ex last night. You know that scene at the end of Braveheart where they rip all his entrails out and he’s like FREEDOM, but it’s like a positive thing. Yu know because it inspires people or whatever. It’s like that but without the silver lining,” Kravitz boisterously announces in the teaser.

Due out on Feb. 14, High Fidelity follows a female record store owner (Kravitz) in Crown Heights, Brooklyn who breaks down for us who top 5 most memorable heartbreaks. The 10-episode first installment will also star Da’Vine Joy Randolph, David H. Holmes, Jake Lacy, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

The teaser shows us Kravitz’s character maneuvering through her dating life, belting out in anguish about some “Lily girl” in the streets of New York and dancing her night away with a potential hook-up.

High Fidelity is loosely based (dubbed a “departure from”) on the 1995 novel by Nick Hornsby and later adapted into a feature film in 2000 starring John Cusack and a Broadway musical in 2006. This will be the first adaptation in the group following a female protagonist.

This will be the first TV series for Kravitz as its lead star. Kravitz, who is also an executive producer on Fidelity, was most recently seen on HBO’s Big Little Lies as Bonnie Carlson. She also had a run as Pearl on the Showtime series Californication in 2011.

“We, of course, had to modernize the world,” Kravitz told EW in our exclusive first look in October. “Now we are dealing with people who are not only obsessed with pop culture, but also nostalgia. Surprisingly, I don’t think the character has changed much. Of course, it’s my own interpretation, but the heart of the character is very much the same. Changing the character from male to female did not change the kind of person we are dealing with.”
