  • Zendaya's futuristic outfit divided the internet. Some praised it while others poked fun with memes.

Zendaya wore a silver suit of armor for the “Dune: Part Two” world premiere in London on Thursday night, dividing the internet on whether it was stunning or laughable.

The suit was originally created by the designer Thierry Mugler in 1995 for his Fall Haute Couture collection and consists of curved silver plates with see-through panels.

Vogue described it at the time as “a frightening and tantalizing image for the dawn of the Internet age.”

It’s a fitting choice by Zendaya's stylist, Law Roach, that matches Denis Villeneuve’s brutalist vision of galactic warfare in the “Dune” movies.

But when photos surfaced of Zendaya walking the sandy carpet in the outfit, the internet’s reactions ranged from high praise to a tidal wave of memes.

Some compared the look to characters from other science-fiction franchises, such as "Star Wars" and "Doctor Who," as well as the groundbreaking 1927 silent movie "Metropolis."

Some of the jokes were also aimed at the film's lead, Timothée Chalamet, who wore an oversize T-shirt to the premiere. Many criticized him considering the effort that Zendaya went to with her silver suit.

"Dune: Part Two" is the sequel to 2021's "Dune," which sees Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) move to the planet Arrakis to control the sandy world that produces a substance vital for space travel. But he becomes a revolutionary when his family is overthrown by their rivals, the Harkonnens.

The first film was met with critical acclaim, winning six awards at the 2022 Oscars, as well as raking in more than $400 million at the box office.

"Dune: Part Two" arrives in theaters on March 1.
