Zayn Malik has a supportive family behind him, including his three sisters, Doniya, Waliyah and Safaa Malik.

Parents Trisha and Yaser Malik welcomed Doniya, the eldest of the Malik siblings, on April 19, 1991. She was soon followed by her younger brother Zayn — born Zain Javadd Malik, according to RCA Records — on Jan. 12, 1993. Waliyha was born on July 23, 1998, and the youngest of the family, Safaa Malik, was born four years later on Sept. 13, 2002.

Zayn and his siblings were raised in a working-class town in West Yorkshire, England, where Trisha is from. The "Pillowtalk" singer told British Vogue in 2018 that processing the near-instant notoriety he experienced with One Direction required a lot of support from his family.

"It was just an experience that I didn’t understand, that, over time and being able to analyze it with my own brain and with the people that were surrounding me — my father, my mother, my sisters … whoever it was — I kind of got to a point where I could understand what that was. It was cool," he said.

From their joint makeup brand to their own growing families, here's everything to know about Zayn Malik's sisters.

Trisha and Yaser raised their four children in Bradford, a town in West Yorkshire, England, where Trisha also grew up. She worked as a halal chef for a local primary school serving Muslim students.

When Zayn found success with the band, he bought his parents a new home and told his mom to give up her job.

"Zayn said, 'You don't have to do this anymore,' " Trisha told BBC. "Instead, he puts my wage into my bank."

They don't want to be musicians like Zayn

According to the Malik matriarch, Doniya, Waliyah and Safaa have no interest in pursuing careers in the entertainment industry.

"None of the sisters will follow Zayn's footsteps into a music career," Trisha told BBC, adding that they were "shy."

Zayn loves to tease his sisters when they are together

Even though the family doesn't get to spend as much time together as they did pre-One Direction, Trisha told BBC that when they do see each other, they act like any other family.

"He'll tease his sisters, he'll hug them and they might have an argument like brothers and sisters do," she said. "He spoils the younger one."

In a rare interview with BBC in 2015, Doniya agreed that she and Zayn used to fight a lot and that being the only boy in the family made him quite spoiled. But she said that the singer still fell into the role of the protector when it came to his sisters — even his eldest.

"He bosses me around," she said. "He acts like the big protective brother, which is quite nice at times."

The siblings have been able to find space for more quality time in recent years. During an interview with NYLON for their May 2024 cover, Zayn spoke about his current life out of the spotlight, explaining that he primarily resides on a quiet farm with “Evil Dead vibes" that terrifies his sisters when they visit.

The eldest Malik is making her mark in the beauty industry as a makeup artist. According to her Instagram bio, Doniya runs Waliyha Beauty, a beauty salon that specializes in bridal glam and party makeup.

While it's unclear when she launched her business, she's been posting makeup tutorials and photos of her work since 2017. Waliyha Beauty is reportedly based out of Bradford, where the family still resides.

Waliyha and Safaa are moms

In addition to being the father of Khai — his daughter whom he co-parents with ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid — Zayn is also an uncle. Safaa has a daughter, Zaneyah, with her husband, Martin Tiser. According to the Daily Mail, the young couple got married in 2019 and welcomed their first child together in 2020.

Waliyah gave birth to her son, Ehsaan, on Jan. 3, 2023, according to her Instagram bio. While she doesn't share photos of her child's face on social media, she is open about motherhood and often shares snippets of her life as a new mom.

"A son is a mother's most precious treasure," she captioned a December 2023 post featuring two selfies of her and Ehsaan, whose face is covered with a heart emoji. "I love you more than life it self [sic] my special little boy."

In 2021, Waliyha announced on Instagram that she and her two sisters were launching a line of fake eyelashes called Slay That Sister. According to the company's website, their shared passion for beauty inspired them to create three different luxury 3D eyelash styles — each one handpicked and representative of their unique flair and individual personalities.

"This is only the beginning for SLAY THAT SISTERS," the company's bio reads. "We envision so much more to come from our brand, whilst sharing this experience with all our beautiful sisters around the world."

They throw each other parties

Celebrating family milestones is a skill that the Malik sisters have got down pat. For Doniya's 30th birthday in 2021, Waliyha posted a collection of photos and videos on Instagram showing how they turned a simple backyard gathering into a lavish event, complete with grazing boards, multiple balloon installations and an igloo.

That same year, the three sisters also threw a surprise birthday party for their mother. Doniya shared an Instagram Reel that showed off a Chanel-themed cake, a flower wall and a waffle bar.

In 2021, Zayn was charged with four counts of harassment after an incident involving Gigi's mom, Yolanda Hadid. According to court documents, he allegedly "grabbed [Yolanda] and shoved her into a dresser, causing mental anguish and physical pain." The singer pleaded no contest and denied striking his ex-girlfriend's mom.

While the incident occurred between Zayn and Gigi's mom, Waliyha shared a few Instagram Stories in support of her brother. Alongside one quote about family that read, "We may not have it all together but together we have it all," she tagged Zayn and wrote, "You are so loved by us all."
