Zayn Malik Sells NYC Penthouse Blocks from Gigi Hadid's Apartment at a Loss for $9.45 Million

Zayn Malik has reportedly offloaded his New York City penthouse for $9.45 million.

PEOPLE reported in August 2019 that the founding One Direction member had listed his New York City home, located in Soho, for $10.8 million. According to Business Insider, he dropped the price to $10.2 million a few months later, and eventually closed a deal in December. The Real Deal first reported the sale.

City property records show Malik, 26, first purchased the nearly 3,600-square-foot condo in March 2018, shortly after he confirmed his break-up with on-and-off girlfriend supermodel Gigi Hadid, 24, via Twitter. The New York Observer noted at the time that he had purchased it for $10.62 million, meaning the recent sale was a $1.3 million loss for the singer.

The sprawling bachelor pad is located just a stone’s throw away from Hadid’s own downtown apartment, so the purchase left fans speculating that the pair may rekindle their more than two-year romance. Based on social media posts, the two did get back together for a time in December 2019. Hadid posted on Instagram about cooking with Malik’s mom’s recipe, which his mom then reposted on her own Instagram Story.

They broke up for good in January 2019.

Initial news of the listing last year came days after Hadid was spotted out with The Bachelorette’s Tyler Cameron, 26. Cameron, who finished second on Hannah Brown’s recent season, was seen with the model at Soho House in Brooklyn in a photo that surfaced on Twitter.
