Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is getting a prequel comic series in 2024 from Titan Comics.

Snyder announced in a Twitter post that Rebel Moon is getting a new comic book series, Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe, that launches in January 2024. As revealed in a subsequent tweet by Titan Comics, Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe’s story comes from Snyder himself. Mags Visaggio is writing the four-issue limited series, while Clark Bint is providing the art.

“As war is looming on the horizon on the planet Shasu, the leader of the Bloodaxe family is conflicted between living up to his father’s domineering legacy and maintaining the peace,” the first issue’s solicitation reads. “It is up to him to settle the conflicts within himself, and his family, before the entire planet erupts in war.”

Rebel Moon releases on Netflix this December

Rebel Moon is an upcoming sci-fi film directed and co-written by Snyder. Releasing on Netflix on December 22, 2023, the movie stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, and Ed Skrein. A sequel, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, will follow on April 19, 2024.

“When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival,” the official synopsis reads. “Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”

Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe #1 features cover art by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Rafael Albuquerque, Baldemar Rivas, and Andrea Olimpieri. The issue releases on January 10, 2024, from Titan Comics
