Zac Efron might be the Hollywood star in his family, but his siblings have gained some fans too.

Zac, whose latest project, Ricky Stanicky, premieres on Prime Video on March 7, grew up in Arroyo Grande, California, where his parents, Starla Baskett and David Efron, worked at the same power plant. Zac’s parents keep pretty private, and the Greatest Showman actor isn’t that forthcoming about his family life, but he has shared his love for his mom and dad in interviews and on social media over the years.

“My parents love me in very different ways,” Zac told Elle in 2016. “But they checked every box. My dad always taught me to be driven. I was always the shortest kid at school. Always the worst kid on the team. I'd come home after practice and my dad would build a basketball hoop. Then we'd go out and shoot 100 free throws. Pretty soon every time I got fouled I would make my free throws.”

On the other hand, Zac’s relationship with his brother, Dylan Efron, is something he has been more public about. Dylan is four years younger than Zac, and the two have a very close relationship that has included working together.

In addition to Dylan, Zac has two more siblings through his father’s second marriage. Zac has posted about his much younger siblings, Olivia and Henry, on social media — and he and Dylan even have a little rivalry over who Olivia likes best.

Here’s everything to know about Zac Efron’s parents and siblings.

Zac's parents met while working at the same power plant: Starla worked in administration, while David was an engineer.

In a 2010 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Zac explained that his upbringing was far removed from the celebrity world he would later join.

“Over dinner, we wouldn’t watch TV. We didn’t have Extra playing, or anything like that,” he said.

Starla and David are no longer together. In 2016, reports surfaced that they were divorcing, and David later went on to remarry.

While Zac and Dylan’s parents aren’t as public as their sons, fans can still catch glimpses of them on social media.

In 2017, he shared a photo of himself, Starla and Greatest Showman costar Hugh Jackman to celebrate his mom's birthday. “Happy Birthday to my mom, my best girl," Zac wrote. "I love you more than the sun, the moon and all the stars in the galaxy. Love, your chocolate bear.”

In May 2020, he shared a different photo of them, and wrote in the caption: “I love you mom.”

As for his dad, for Father’s Day in 2019, Zac posted a photo of David carrying him on his back when he was a baby.

“Me in back helping my Dad build our house,” he captioned the shot. “Honestly- from total scratch- thats the kind of guy he is. Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Love you.

Zac and Dylan both frequently post about hanging out with each other on social media, including going boating and playing golf together.

In a 2021 interview with BroBible, Dylan said that he and Zac “were always fighting with each other” when they were kids, and he described them as “so different.”

“[T]hen once I graduated college, Zac really took me under his wing and let me live with him when I got my first job in Los Angeles,” Dylan said. “He really became that older brother, and that’s when I would say we grew closer than ever. Our relationship was something that developed more as we both became adults and stopped fighting so much.”

Dylan is passionate about traveling and the outdoors

Dylan is a YouTuber and social media influencer focusing on travel and outdoor adventures. On Instagram, he has over 842,000 followers.

“From a young age, my passions have always been fitness and being outside,” Dylan told BroBible. “Not necessarily working out, but just exhausting yourself in whatever it is. That’s what we did for fun growing up. We didn’t have Six Flags or any big concerts to go to in my hometown, it was all about using what was available to us, which was the ocean or the mountains.”

Before making a career of being in front of the camera himself, Dylan worked as a producer, including on Zac’s docuseries Down to Earth with Zac Efron, which ran for two seasons beginning in 2020. He also popped up on a few episodes of Down to Earth alongside his older brother, and was an associate producer for the 2020 documentary By Hand.

That wasn’t the only time Zac and Dylan filmed a project together. In 2019, they posted a YouTube video series called “Off the Grid” that showed them skiing and spending time in the desert, among other adventures.

Zac sometimes posts about his younger half-siblings, Olivia and Henry, on social media.

In June 2023, he shared an Instagram photo showing himself holding Olivia and Henry at a circus. He also posted about their outing on his Instagram Story, showing that David joined them for the event.

Previously in December 2022, Zac shared an Instagram photo of himself holding Olivia for her birthday, writing in the caption, “Happy bday lil sis.”

Dylan and Zac have a friendly rivalry about who Olivia prefers. In August 2023, Dylan posted a video montage that showed Olivia talking about how much she loves him. Her reasons included Dylan being “so strong to pick me up” and being able to hold her upside down.

Dylan wrote in the caption, “Sorry Zac, I’m winning ❤️.”

In December 2023, Zac was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A number of people showed up to celebrate with the actor, including his parents and younger brother Dylan.

"I really want to take this moment to thank my first fans, thank you to my family," Zac said during his acceptance speech. "Thank you mom, thank you dad and thank you Dylan. There's been a lot of sacrifices that you've made for me over my life and it couldn't have been easy, but thanks for believing in me. You're the reason I'm here today."

Zac expanded on his gratitude in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the event, getting emotional while talking about his parents' belief in him.

My mom and dad, they're the reason I'm here today,” the actor said. “They believed in me when I don't know how they did. It must've been difficult to drive me back and forth to auditions when I was 15, three hours from the Arroyo Grande out here, just to have such a small shot.”

He continued, “They believed in me, and they stuck with me, by my side, through all of it. And I think they sacrificed a lot to support me throughout the years."

Just weeks later, Zac shared a photo of himself kissing his mom on the cheek from the event on Instagram to wish her a happy birthday on Jan. 14.

"Happy birthday to my #1! your love and support made me who I am today- love you Mom," he wrote in the caption.
