Contracting A Serious Sickness

While filming his new Quibi show Killing Zac Efron, Zac Efron allegedly caught a "life threatening" virus before the Christmas holidays. According to E!News, Efron "had contracted what is believed to be a typhoid or other bacterial infection while on the island country of Papua New Guinea." Yikes!

The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention reports that "the bacteria that causes typhoid fever, a life-threatening illness, can be found in contaminated water and food in Papua New Guinea."

Airlifted To Australia

Because of the severity of his condition, Efron was airlifted to Brisbane, Australia, and was treated in a private hospital for several days following the scare. The Medical Rescue Group reported that they "retrieved a U.S. citizen in his 30s from PNG to Brisbane recently for medical attention in Australia."

Efron has apparently made great strides in his recovery and was allowed by his doctors to fly home to the United States on Christmas Eve for the holiday season.

The Show Sounds Wild

Efron's new show sounds like an intense docuseries in the vein of Naked And Afraid and Running Wild With Bear Grylls. Killing Zac Efron, in a name that is now way to ironic, will feature the actor "deep into the jungles of a remote, dangerous island with nothing but basic gear, a guide partner and a will to survive."

Since Efron is making a steady recovery, the show could still go to air, but this could have truly become one of Hollywood's most on-the-nose tragedies
