Zac Brown Band performance on June 2 tops Canandaigua's week of events

No doubt many are catching their collective breaths after the long Memorial Day weekend, which is considered the unofficial start of summer. Oh, don’t worry. There’s more to do this week, inlcuding a concert by a quintessential summertime band at CMAC.

Here’s what’s happening.

1. Mayhem, Murder and Mocktails in Canandaigua

Join Generally Speaking about Crime hosts Jenny Goodemote and Carrie Magnan from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua. They will discuss crimes that have caught their attention, with some mocktails thrown in. 2. Spring book sale time at Wood Library

Wood Library’s annual spring book sale starts Saturday, June 1, and runs through Sunday, June 9, during regular library hours. And if you have items to donate, do it from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the library, 134 N. 3. Learn about Excel in Canandaigua

For Ontario County residents ages 60 and up, this one-session course is for beginners who have little to no knowledge of Excel. The course, which is offered from 10 a.m. to noon May 30 at Wood Library, will cover the basics of Excel including instructions on cells, worksheets and formulas. For details and to register for this or other Wood Library programs, visit woodlibrary.org or call 585-394-1381. 

4. Who’s up for a game of bridge?

The Ferris Hills at West Lake bridge tournament will be held May 31. A buffet luncheon starts the action off from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by bridge play from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Ferris Hills at West Lake on Peg Rayburn Drive in Canandaigua. Players may choose either duplicate or social bridge, and gift cards will be awarded to winners. Seating is limited and preregistration is required. The cost is $20 per person. 5. Art exhibit at Cumming Nature Center in Naples

Bruce Zaretsky will have artworks on exhibit now through the summer at Cumming Nature Center, 6472 Gulick Road, Naples. 6. Art show and sale in Penn Yan

Artists Susan Comstock and Rosemary Reed will offer paintings, sculpture, pottery and jewelry during an art show and sale, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, in the barn studio at 2628 Shanty Plains Road, Penn Yan. 7. Zac Brown Band comes to CMAC
