Popular YouTuber PewDiePie says he is “sickened” that the man who shot and killed 49 people during attacks at two New Zealand mosques mentioned his name during the rampage.

The gunman live-streamed his attack and according to reports, at one point said, “Remember, lads, subscribe to PewDiePie.”

The Swedish YouTube star, who has 89 million subscribers, reacted to the shocking report, saying, “Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch. I feel absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person.”

He added, “My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

The alleged shooter was believed to be a 28-year-old Australian man who live-streamed the attack and published a manifest saying he only came to New Zealand to plan and train for the attack.

The suspect has been arrested and charged with murder.

PewDiePie has dealt with backlash throughout the years, most recently when fans reacted after he posted a meme following Demi Lovato’s overdose. He took the photo down and apologized, calling it “insensitive.”
