YouTube Star Austin Mahone Tough on ‘Chopped Junior’ Kids
Superstar YouTube musician Austin Mahone was the guest judge on Chopped Junior Tuesday night. Most of the time, the guest judges take it pretty easy on the young chefs, but the 20-year-old singer/songwriter criticized almost every dish he tried. Austin turned out to be a tougher judge than Simon Cowell!
The online star wasn’t mean about it though; he knew the “secret” to delivering bad news. Austin would start by giving a compliment like, “I love the muffins, they are so good,” and then quickly follow it up with, “but the muffins definitely could have used some icing or something on top.”
But he showed a softer side too. Melinda struggled during the dessert round. Austin made her feel better by saying, “I noticed that you got a little worried at the end there, and that, you know, kind of reminds me of when I’m on stage and I’m, you know, against the clock and everyone’s watching. But I thought, you know, you handled it really well and I’m very impressed.”
Chopped Junior airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Food Network.
