‘You're Lying’: Stephen Colbert Mocks Kellyanne Conway About Donald Trump Jr.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert created a fake news interview with Kellyanne Conway about the very real news the New York Times reported in which Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer in an effort to gain damaging information on Hillary Clinton. Colbert edited himself into footage from Chris Cuomo’s interview with White House counselor Conway on CNN.
When Conway said, “Don Jr. has very explicitly stated he didn’t even know the name of the person with whom he was meeting,” Colbert responded, “Does he often meet with random strangers? … He accepts mystery guests? It could be anyone. It could be Reince Priebus in a mask or a drifter with an ax?”
Conway later said, referring to allegations of collusion, “The conversation’s real, the collusion is not.”
Colbert exasperatedly replied, “But the conversation was about collusion. Oh, wait. I’m sorry, I understand. You’re lying. OK, I’m going to wrap this up because talking to you is like staring into the mouth of madness.
