The Good Place: Thursday, Jan. 5, at 8:30 p.m. on NBC
Our first trip back to the Good Place since November means a chance to reconnect with our favorite (dead) people. Here’s hoping Janet’s reboot has progressed beyond its “cactus” stage.

One Day at a Time: Friday, Jan. 6, on Netflix
Norman Lear’s 1975 sitcom has been put through the reboot machine and has come out on the other side as the story of a single Latina mother (Justina Machado) raising her two kids with the assistance — and occasional interference — of her mother (showbiz legend Rita Moreno).

Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds: Saturday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. on HBO
The intense bond that the dearly departed mother-and-daughter pair, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, shared in life is preserved on film forever courtesy of this moving hourlong documentary. May the tissues be with you.
