Four decades after the original Roots became a groundbreaking television event, Alex Haley’s powerful novel tracing an African-American family’s life from the slave trade to the present day returns to television. Original series star, LeVar Burton, is onboard as a producer and has a cameo as well.

The Dresser: Monday, May 30 at 9 p.m. on Starz
The dynamic duo of Gandalf and Hannibal Lecter headline an adaptation of Ronald Harwood’s 1980 play about an aging actor (Anthony Hopkins) and his backstage dresser (Ian McKellen).

Peaky Blinders: Tuesday, May 31 on Netflix
