“Young Sheldon” cast reacts to series finale: 'I will miss everyone so much'

"It’s some of the most beautiful episodes of TV I’ve ever watched," Raegan Revord said of the "Young Sheldon" finale.

Young Sheldon and the Cooper family have said farewell (in more ways than one) after seven seasons.

The Big Bang Theory spinoff's two-part finale aired on May 16, and it's not just fans who have been saying goodbye to the show, which premiered in 2017. Cast members, including star Iain Armitage, have taken to social media to pay tribute to their long-running show.

"I've always wondered what this day would feel like and now it's here," Armitage shared on Instagram. "Thank you for a wonderful ride. I will miss everyone so much and I want you to know that it's been an honor to play this part, and it's been a joy to work with people I love so much."

He continued, "I’m excited to see what’s next and I hope you’ll join me on the next chapter, whatever that is. I truly hope you enjoy the finale. It was made with a lot of love," the actor added, alongside a photo of himself posing on a couch. Armitage also shared posts from other cast members and crew, like director Michael Judd.

Raegan Revord, who played Sheldon's sister, Missy Cooper, also offered an emotional goodbye. "Over the years I’ve watched a lot of my favorite shows have their series finales and one thing I always thought about is how heartbreaking it must be to say goodbye, never thinking about my own because it seemed so far into the future," she wrote on Instagram.

She added, "Here I am on the day of my own finale heartbroken, I love this cast, our incredible crew, and these characters so much not having them in my life everyday seems impossible. But I’m also filled with wonderful memories, a beautiful childhood, a family forever, and gratitude. Thank you to those that have tuned in over the years and for loving these characters as much as we do. I hope you enjoy the finale tonight, it’s some of the most beautiful episodes of TV I’ve ever watched."

Many other cast members shared photos and memories, including Annie Potts, who shared a photo of herself with Craig T. Nelson, aka coach Dale Ballard.

Matt Hobby, who played Pastor Jeff Hodgkins, shared on Instagram, "I’m so grateful to have been a part of this wonderful story for 7 years. I will miss these kind, genius, loving people. I’m so proud that this will always be a part of my life."

His post prompted responses from cast members like Melissa Peterman, who commented, "You are brilliant. You were the perfect Pastor Jeff."

Armitage commented, "You are amazing! So happy to know you and your wonderful family. We couldn’t have had a better Pastor Jeff!"

Peterman also shared a behind-the-scenes photo with the Young Sheldon cast. "I am grateful to have been a part of this incredible show for a multitude of reasons," she wrote in a separate post. "The writing. I couldn't wait to get the script when I was in an episode, the writing was impeccable. A perfect balance of heart and humor. I loved those moments of vulnerability they wrote for Brenda."

Emily Osment, who portrayed Mandy McAllister, shared a similar sentiment. "I am so grateful for this chapter of my life and the way these remarkable people filled the pages," she wrote. "I love you @youngsheldoncbs Thank you for the last three years."

"Bittersweet day today," Wyatt McClure, who played Billy Sparks shared. "Although the end is coming I have made lifelong friends forever. Get your tissues ready. Thank you to everyone on the show who made this the greatest 7 years possible."

Caleb Emery shared a screengrab of himself as Darren, with the caption, "Congrats to this guy! What a run! Glad I was a part of it!"

Melissa Joan Hart, who directed five episodes of the show, also shared memories of working on the show. "I had the absolute honor to direct a handful of episodes for this groundbreaking show with this incredible cast and so many icons coming thru the door as guest stars as well," she wrote. "What's a ride and congrats to all my friends on a show that made people laugh, cry and come back to appointment television! "

"From the heart-to-heart talks to the countless laughs, every moment on set with you all has been a gift," Doc Farrow, who played coach Wayne Wilkins, wrote. He added a tribute to Sheldon's father, George Sr., played by Lance Barber. "George, you brought so much warmth and wisdom to our show, and your legacy will continue to inspire us. Here’s to celebrating the joy, the friendship, and the family we’ve built together."

Kate Flannery, who appeared in an episode, wrote on Instagram, "What a great run. Thank you @iain you are a smart, funny, and very kind soul. It was so great working with you. A finale is a graduation! Thank you for letting me be a small part of this lovely show a few short years ago."

Armitage shared Flannery's post on his own Instagram story, adding, "love you back!"

Vyvy Nguyen, who also guest starred on the show, shared a video of herself and a young Armitage having an "oink-off" between takes.

As the series ended, viewers watched Sheldon head to Caltech in an episode that featured cameos from Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik.
