Young M.A Shows Gratitude For Overcoming Medical Issues: “I Thought I Would Die”
Young M.A has opened up about the health scares she experienced in recent years that have left fans concerned for the rapper’s well-being.
On Tuesday (Sept. 26), the Brooklyn native took to Instagram to show gratitude for having made it through those complications, as well as other possible tragic moments in her life. “Survived some s**t I thought I would die from…,” M.A wrote in the caption of the post, which included a photo of herself sitting in a car.
Earlier this year, M.A revealed that she had been hospitalized as a result of medical issues, but had been released and was focusing on her recovery. “As many of my supporters know I’ve been dealing with various personal health issues the last few years,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I recently was hospitalized and was successfully treated for several conditions. I’m doing better now, will take some time, but I’m on the road to recovery and look forward to the future.”
A day prior to her statement, M.A’s barber shared a clip of himself shaping up the rapper’s hairline as she sat in a barber’s chair. Fans, who commented that M.A appeared ill and in poor health, criticized the barber for sharing a video of his client in such a condition. The barber in question would later clap back at those critics, revealing that he had permission from the rapper himself and that the pair were close friends.
“Y’all got so much to say as if I’m trying to embarrass my dawg,” he wrote at the time. “If she didn’t want me to record, she would’ve told me. Y’all don’t know our bond nor our friendship. What y’all need to do is just send your prayers for her and that’s that she didn’t have a haircut in a month, and she wanted me to bring her haircut back to life, which I did. Thank you for coming, [Young M.A], and rocking with me like always. Love ya.”
This past April, M.A revealed that she was “very much sober” and that a documentary covering her health struggles was in the works
