Young Cancer Survivor Given Captain's Microphone on Southwest Flight
A young cancer survivor was handed the pilot’s intercom to welcome aboard his fellow passengers before his flight took off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 23.
Five-year-old Luke Liedy was travelling home to North Carolina after enjoying an Easter holiday with his family. Luke’s mother, Rachalle Liedy, captured the moment the “two-time cancer survivor” was able to visit the flight deck prior to his flight.
“He just received news that he was still in remission from cancer a week earlier,” she told Storyful.
Luke’s father, Bill Liedy, shared the video on Twitter and thanked Southwest Airlines for “making a young cancer survivor’s day”. Credit: Rachalle Liedy via Storyful
