Yoke Lore has always been interested in philosophy and religion. Although Neal Stephenson’s seminal cyber-punk novel Snow Crash wouldn’t have seemed like a natural fit for him, it’s a book full of references to spiritual practices, linguistics, and other areas that piqued his interest.
On this episode of The Spark Parade, Lore talks about how the book predicted the concept of the metaverse and other technological advancements, thereby bridging the gap between ancient rituals and futurism. It’s a combination that he readily admits he couldn’t avoid if he tried.
“I don’t know where these cypber-punk guys got these ideas, but they literally and conceptually invented the Internet,” he says. “How we were going to act in this meta space. It really predictably provided the groundwork for how people were going to behave, too.”
