Yo Gotti reveals that he studies JAY-Z albums like books

During a recent interview with “Big Boy’s Neighborhood,” Yo Gotti admitted that he studies JAY-Z’s works as if they are books.

“I study JAY. When JAY put out albums, they like books for me,” the Memphis rapper said. “So for a young hustler, a real hustler who understands what he talking about when he’s saying certain things — that’s my information. That’s my research catalogue. If you the right hustler, you gon’ pick up on something.”

He continued, “If you just listening, you just listening. It might go over your head. Or under your head. I feel like some of my experiences and some of the things I’m seeing and learning, I’m putting it in the music.” Check out the full conversation below:

The “Rake It Up” hitmaker has always shown love to the Brooklyn rapper throughout his career. In fact, he’s been a Roc Boy since 2016. JAY-Z’s Roc Nation signed a deal with Yo Gotti, in partnership with his own record label Collective Music Group (CMG), that includes Blac Youngsta, MoneyBagg Yo, EST Gee, GloRilla, and 42 Dugg, just to name a few.

As previously reported by REVOLT, back in 2020, Yo Gotti and JAY-Z also teamed up to file a lawsuit on behalf of mistreated inmates in Mississippi prisons through Roc Nation’s philanthropic arm Team Roc. “Join Team Roc and our partners [Until Freedom,] [REFORM Alliance] [and Color of Change] Friday, Jan. 24 to rally for #msprisionreformnow,” an Instagram post from Team Roc read at the time. “[Mississippi] location will be announced soon. Let your voice be heard as we hold the #MDOC and the state of #Mississippi accountable for their treatment of prisoners at #ParchmanPrison and all other facilities.”

In other related news, the “Young Forever” hitmaker is set to host a 007-themed party on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Atlantic City’s Ocean Casino Resort to raise funds for REFORM Alliance.
