YNW Melly has voiced his belief that he’ll be vindicated of the double homicide he’s been accused of if he were to be retried on the charges.

In a letter written to his father that was made public on Tuesday (Oct. 3), Melly remained stoic while detailing his circumstance, which has left him incarcerated for nearly the past five years.

“I wouldn’t change nothing about my life, not even the last 4.5 years I spent it dis dark shi* hole,” the “Mixed Personalities” rapper wrote. “It made me a man. It’s finally over doe. I knew I wasn’t getting bond, I’d have to have a 2nd mistrial I ain’t tripping. I’ll be home this trial. God is working.”

He continued, sending warm words to his mother, daughter and other members of his family. “I love you,” Melly added. “Thanks for getting it on with my mom and making me… Tell Bri I love her and her daughter! Tell Doya I love him, and tell Makia I love her. Can’t wait to meet you all. We gone hang. Love man!”

YNW Melly is accused of shooting and killing two of his friends, 21-year-old Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and 19-year-old Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas, in 2018 and staging the crime as a drive-by shooting. Melly, along with co-defendant Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry were charged with the murders, which were committed in a vehicle following a studio session in Florida.

Last month, Melly’s first murder trial ended in a mistrial after jurors were unable to come to a verdict. His legal team has filed a motion to have the charges against him dismissed based on alleged prosecutorial misconduct by the lead detective on the case. A judge has yet to issue a ruling on the filing.
