Yes, that was a Chihuahua in a motorcycle sidecar ...

Hi all,

How are we doing on this fine Wednesday? I hope everyone's week has been going well. Summer's not here quite yet, but it sure feels like it some days. Last month, I put together a list of eight signs of a Fort Collins summer and, boy, are they starting to come to life. I did miss one, however. As the weather warms up, be on the lookout for a tiny Chihuahua in a motorcycle sidecar (more on him below). Here's what to know ...

... this week

Signs of summer

With sunny days ahead, I figured it wouldn't hurt to bring back my list of Fort Collins summer signs from a few weeks ago. By now, you've probably spotted Fort Collins' historic streetcars roving up and down Mountain Avenue (their season started April 30). Farmers markets are officially starting to open, the Holiday Twin Drive-In is once again showing double features and City Park's FoCo Food Truck Rally geared up last night. Check out the other signs that a Fort Collins summer is near.

A Harmony Road shake-up

Dining in south Fort Collins will look different this year as the mind behind Rally5 Crafted Eats & Bar works on some big changes. Veteran restaurateur and Rally5 owner Steve Lauer recently purchased the restaurant's Harmony Road building and its eastern neighbor's. Soon, Rally5 will undergo an expansion to the east as well as a renovation and expansion of its outdoor patio. Lauer also plans to open Mas Fuegos Kitchen and Tequila Bar in his new building to the east, taking over the former home of Locality Kitchen and Bar.

A grad guide

Are you celebrating a new Colorado State University graduate this weekend? The university is hosting a dozen commencement ceremonies Friday through Sunday — marking a return to pre-pandemic protocols. Here's what you need to know before visiting campus.

This week's must-read

If you're ever driving through Fort Collins traffic and spot a tiny Chihuahua zooming past you, you're probably not dreaming. Paco, a 14-year-old Chihuahua, is a regular passenger in his mom's sidecar motorcycle. Julie Parker, Paco's mom, first purchased a scooter and sidecar for the pair nearly two years ago. Paco — an adventurous dog with a history of kayaking, camping and beach trips — took to the scooter immediately. Parker upgraded to a sidecar motorcycle early this year and the pair can often be seen traveling through the Choice City. Follow his adventures on Instagram (@sidecarpaco)!

That does it for me this week, all. I'm taking next week off, so you'll have to fend for yourselves, my weekend warriors.

Yours in watching the video of Paco the Chihuahua on a constant loop,

Erin
