Yellowstone Recap: Unlucky Clover — Plus, New Villains Plan to Drag Dan to Hell and ‘Beck’

The cowpatties really hit the fan in Sunday’s Yellowstone. After deadly clover was dropped in a field where John’s cattle was grazing, the rancher strong-armed the sheriff into deputizing Kayce so that he could team up with Livestock Agent Hendon to find evidence implicating Dan. John also exacted a promise from Donnie that when Kayce called for backup, he’d get it.

In no time, the newly minted deputy and Hendon were mixed up in a dispute between neighbors Paulson and Hayes. When they radioed for backup, none came. So after Kayce discovered that the “wolves” that had killed Hayes’ cow had actually been his own weed trimmer, he resisted arrest, his son pulled a shotgun, and Hendon shot the boy. (You’ll learn soon enough that screwing up is kinda Hendon’s thing.)

‘THINK OF US AS ALLIES’ | In other developments, Dan found out just how royally he’d been screwed by Rainwater. “Are you familiar with the term Indian giver?” the developer’s counsel asked. “This is the opposite.” The Beck brothers, peeved that ground had been broken on their rivals’ casino project, decided that they needed to find “less subtle means of expressing our displeasure.” To that end, Malcolm and Teal paid a visit to John, who was about as interested in a team-up as he was a salad. Nevertheless, when the Becks saw a news report on the Hayes boy’s death, Malcolm had an idea.

The meth-heads to whom Jimmy owes $8k roughed up his uncle to send him a message. Monica resisted the temptation presented by her physical therapist to invite Kayce into her apartment for a booty call. (Or, since he’s a cowboy, simply a boot call?) Jamie railed at Beth for putting the ranch at risk by putting it in a trust. She responded by stabbing him under the table at dinner.

Meanwhile, Sarah kept calling with followup questions for Jamie. So you just knew that his ill-advised tell-all interview was going to come back to bite him. The only questions were when and how hard.
