  • The season 3 finale of Yellowstone ended with a bang: John, Beth and Kayce Dutton were all attacked.

  • Season 4 is expected to premiere in June 2021, but it's still unclear if all three Duttons will return.

  • Some eagle-eyed fans pointed out a small moment in the season 3 finale that hints at even more destruction on Dutton Ranch.

Yellowstonehas been off the air for months, but fans are still trying to make sense of the bombshell season 3 finale. There have been several fan theories floating around the Internet, many pointing to Jamie (Wes Bentley) as the mastermind behind the three attacks: the gunmen storming Kayce's (Luke Grimes) office, bomb explosion at Beth's (Kelly Reilly) office and drive-by shooting that left John (Kevin Costner) struggling on the side of the road.

But now, a few eagle-eyed fans are calling out a tiny detail that most of us missed: When Kayce is on the phone with Monica (Kelsey Asbille) just seconds after his office is raided, you hear an explosion close to where she is, which just so happens to be Dutton Ranch. "At 42:23, when Kayce is on the phone with Monica and the Livestock office is attacked, the shot switches to Monica and an explosion is heard in the background where she is." the Reddit user writes

There was so much going on at this time, that it's hard to tell if Monica simply heard the explosion at Beth's office through the phone or if this was a different one entirely. The timing of the explosions is still up for debate: "The explosion Monica heard happened way after the explosion at Beth's office, and the explosion is more pronounced with Monica she turns towards it," one Reddit user argues

Some fans, however, think it's telling that the guys who shot John were heading in the direction of the ranch. If that's the case, then it's possible that they coordinated an attack on the ranch and shot John to distract him. "To your point however, those guys in the van very well could have hit the ranch and were making their getaway when they just happen to come across John on the side of the road," another commented

If these theories prove to be true, then the fate of Dutton Ranch may be in question. This comes after three seasons of uncertainty: Most recently, Market Equities offered John Dutton $500 million for his land, so that it wouldn't be taken over by the state. Despite his children's wishes, John turned down the offer, putting everything he loves — his family and their ranch — into jeopardy.

It's just a matter of time until we'll all know the truth.
