The post Yellowjackets: Remember Season 1 to Take the Sting Out of Season 2 appeared first on Consequence.

It’s been over a year now since Yellowjackets, AKA your favorite show about teen-soccer-players-turned-cannibals, ended its first season on a series of major cliffhangers. In the past, the Yellowjackets soccer team is diving headfirst into some culty mischief while stranded in the wilderness; in the present, an assortment of decapitated heads have appeared in the basement of one of the ex-players, and multiple murders have been committed. And that’s just scratching the surface.

If you need a refresher prior to Season 2, which premieres on March 26th on Showtime, we’ve got you covered. Here’s where we left all of Yellowjackets’ main characters at the end of Season 1 — in both the 1990s storyline, as well as the present.

Shauna Shipman (Sophie Nélisse, Melanie Lynskey)

Yellowjackets (Showtime)

Where Young Shauna Is At the End of Season 1: Shauna (Nélisse) spends the majority of Season 1 harboring a major secret: she has been sleeping with her best friend Jackie’s (Ella Purnell) boyfriend, and is carrying his baby. At the end of the season, Jackie finds out, and the two get into an explosive fight, prompting Jackie to sleep outside.

The next morning, Shauna is devastated to find that Jackie has frozen to death. Will the traumatic loss of her best friend amp up her motivation to escape the woods? Or will it only pull her closer to the dark side?

Where Adult Shauna Is At the End of Season 1: Adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) gets herself into quite the pickle at the end of Season 1: She ends up murdering Adam (Peter Gadiot), the man she was cheating on her husband Jeff with, because she suspected that he was the one blackmailing her about her experiences in the wilderness. Only after stabbing him to death does Shana learn that the blackmailer was actually… wait for it… her desperate-for-cash husband.

Despite this revelation, Shauna allows her co-conspirators and fellow ex-Yellowjackets, Taissa (Tawny Cypress), Natalie (Juliette Lewis), and Misty (Christine Ricci), to believe that Adam was, in fact, the perpetrator – all in an effort to protect herself and her family. Will she be able to keep up the ruse? Only time will tell.

Taissa Turner (Jasmin Savoy Brown, Tawny Cypress)

Yellowjackets (Showtime)

Where Young Taissa Is At the End of Season 1: Hell-bent on escaping the wilderness, Taissa (Savoy Brown) leads a group of teens away from their base camp to look for help, but their mission is cut short when her girlfriend, Van (Liv Hewson), is attacked by a wolf. Will Taissa eventually be the one that gets the teens out of the woods?

Where Adult Taissa Is At the End of Season 1: Out of every character in Yellowjackets, adult Taissa (Tawny Cypress) might have gotten the most intense Season 1 cliffhanger. Now a successful politician running for senate, Taissa’s picture-perfect life isn’t what it seems; at night, she is consumed by horrific hallucinations and a bizarre dirt-eating habit.

In the final episode of the season, Taissa wins the race for senate, and her personal life subsequently implodes. In their basement, her wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), discovers a collection of unnerving objects, including their decapitated dog’s head, as well as a couple of their son Sammy (Aiden Stoxx)’s dolls, which have been dismembered. In addition to showing the fallout of her bizarre, violent actions, Season 2 will hopefully reveal what happened to Taissa in the wilderness to put her in such a precarious mental state as an adult.

Misty Quigley (Samantha Hanratty, Christina Ricci)

Yellowjackets (Showtime)

Where Young Misty Is At the End of Season 1: One of the most unpredictable characters in Yellowjackets, teenaged Misty (Henratty) closes out Season 1 strong by – checks notes – drugging the entire soccer team – partially in an attempt to get closer to her unrequited crush: Yellowjackets assistant coach Ben (Steven Kreuger). While under the influence, the girls attempt to rape and kill Travis (Kelvin Alves), but are stopped by Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) just in time. It’s safe to assume that this is only the beginning of young Misty getting up to no good.

Where Adult Misty Is At the End of Season 1: Spoiler alert: adult Misty (Christina Ricci) still enjoys getting up to no good. Part of the initial hunt to find the blackmailer, she gladly helps Shauna, Taissa, and Natalie get rid of Adam’s body.

Meanwhile, she’s holding a woman named Jessica (Rekha Sharma) hostage in her basement, (such a Misty move), after Jessica reveals that Taissa had hired her to get dirt on the surviving Yellowjackets. At the end of the season, Misty lets Jessica go, but soon after walking through the door, Jessica passes out from being poisoned. How is Misty going to deal with the knowledge that Taissa is spying on her? More importantly, what else is she capable of?

Natalie Scatorccio (Sophie Thatcher, Juliette Lewis)

Where Young Nat Is At the End of Season 1: Nat is the Yellowjackets victim who probably has the most fun while stranded in the wilderness – at least for a little while – because she finds a new beau in none other than Travis. Trouble invades paradise, however, when Jackie tells Travis that Nat once slept with his bully, Bobby. Travis breaks up with Nat as a result, and it’s up in the air whether he’ll ever forgive her.

Given the fact that Nat is so determined to solve his murder decades later, however, it’s safe to assume their relationship will continue to develop in one way or another. Season 1 does, after all, end with the two of them looking for Travis’s little brother, Javi (Luciano Leroux), in the woods, and we know by now that life-changing things tend to take place in that wilderness.

Where Adult Nat Is At the End of Season 1: Adult Nat (Juliette Lewis) spends the majority of Season 1 of Yellowjackets attempting to solve the mystery of Travis’s sudden death. After blackmailing a bank teller, she finds out that Lottie drained all the money out of his account. We obviously all need answers ASAP, and if anyone can get them, it’s Nat.

Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton, Simone Kessell)

Yellowjackets (Showtime)

Where Young Lottie Is At the End of Season 1: I think I can speak for all of us when I say I’m a little worried about young Lottie (Eaton). A diagnosed schizophrenic who runs out of meds quickly after getting stranded in the wilderness, she ends Season 1 displaying some disturbing behavior: killing a bear, stealing its heart, and offering said heart to some dark, woodsy entity. Perhaps the offering will be the beginning of the cannibalism that Yellowjackets hinted at early on in the season.

Where Adult Lottie Is At the End of Season 1: Adult Lottie (Kessell) is probably the biggest wildcard of Yellowjackets at this point. We actually haven’t met her yet, but the dramatic reveal that she drained Travis’s bank account suggests that she will play a major role in Season 2. Did she kill Travis to stop her secrets getting out? Only time will tell.

Travis Martinez (Kevin Alves)

Where Young Travis Is At the End of Season 1: We know that adult Travis was murdered, and the answer to what happened to him could be tied to events that take place in Season 2 in the woods. We already know that he already narrowly escaped being killed by the girls, and that his little brother is missing. Could one of those things be connected to his adult fate?

You know what to do to find out — tune in when Yellowjackets returns for its second season on Sunday, March 26th (with episodes streaming the Friday before on Showtime).
