Yeat has been teasing LYFË for some time now, noting in a message to fans on Thursday night that the new tape would be arriving this coming Friday, Sept. 9.

Earlier this year, Year unloaded his sophomore studio album, 2 Alivë, which was later expanded (including via a pair of Lil Uzi Vert collabs) with the 2 Alivë (Geëk Pack) experience. Of course, no talk of Yeat’s 2022 feats would be complete without a mention of Minions: The Rise of Gru.

As recently broken down by Eric Skelton for Complex, Yeat and the minions together achieved the sort of skyrocketing virality over the summer that many would only dream of reaching in their respective careers. At the heart of this virality was a Cole Bennett-directed trailer for Gru that featured the fittingly named Yeat track “Rich Minion.”

As Bennett revealed to Complex, the original plan was to go with someone completely different and more “PG-rated” than Yeat. But a last-minute idea from Bennett ultimately spurred the Yeat-soundtracked trailer into existence, followed by a viral TikTok trend consisting of theatergoers in suits uniting for the release of Gru.

“I was so curious what he was going to say,” Bennett told Complex of the anticipation surrounding hearing the commissioned track for the first time. “But as soon as I heard, ‘I count money,’ I was like, ‘Oh, this is outta here. This is crazy.’”

Stay tuned for more updates on LYFË in the coming days.
