This year's Fantasy of Lights theme is 'Tunes and Toons'
HOWELL — Plans for this year's Fantasy of Lights Parade are underway, with a special theme of "Tunes and Toons."
Entries are encouraged to decorate their float with themes from their favorite Christmas songs or cartoons. The parade, a day-after-Thanksgiving tradition in Livingston County, will begin at 7 p.m. along Grand River Avenue on Friday, Nov. 24.
Festivities begin as early as 3 p.m. along State Street, including live entertainment, letter-writing to Santa Claus, children's crafts, food trucks and reindeer.
Participants can enter to join a one-mile walk, or run in the Fantasy 5K, according to a release. That event begins at 6 p.m. and registration is required.
Clark Gill, owner of Aberrant Ales, has been named grand marshal. Gill is a longtime resident of Livingston County.
“What began as a hobby for Clark quickly evolved into a passionate venture that has enriched the local culture and spirit of downtown Howell,” parade organizers wrote. “Through his dedication and community-minded approach, Clark has become an essential part of making the Howell area a better place to live, work and play.”
