Years After Criticizing Tinsley & Carole’s Glam, Bethenny Explains Her Makeup TikToks

During Season 10 of The Real Housewives of New York City, the ladies took a trip to Cartagena, Colombia. As viewers may recall, there was (a lot of) trouble in paradise. In between the Boat Ride from Hell and drama at the dinner table was the infamous “glam-gate” fiasco. If you need a refresher: Bethenny Frankel took issue with Tinsley Mortimer flying out her glam team for the getaway (a rare Housewives move at the time). Following the trip, problems regarding beauty and glam continued when Bethenny accused Carole Radziwill of being too involved with makeup and clothes.

Flash-forward to May 19, and the topic of glam-gate yet again resurfaced when Bethenny appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “OK, Bethenny, apparently everyone is asking about your makeup TikToks, since you said Carole and Tinsley only cared about makeup, and now you’re posting all about makeup,” the titular host said, referring to Bethenny’s social media page where she showcases herself trying beauty products, rating brands, doing her makeup, and dishing her go-to picks.

“I’m not particularly vain,” Bethenny explained. “I care about the fact that I’ve never known how to do it and what scams — all these people [saying], ‘look at the glow, the glow’ — everything glows, it’s glow lotion! Like what’s good and what’s not, and is it BS and is it not? So I wanted to cut through from a business perspective.”

To find out what is not “BS,” Bethenny has tested countless beauty products. In terms of her favorite affordable find, she told Andy Cohen, “Neutrogena has the best foundation and concealer, as good as the high-end brands. Covergirl has amazing blush and primer mist. . . I’m shocked — the drugstore’s amazing.”
