Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) Announces Final U.S. Shows

Earlier today, Bey was finally granted permission to leave South Africa

Earlier today, it was announced that Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) had been granted permission to leave South Africa after being detained in the country for most of the year. (He was barred after attempting to leave with a false passport.) In a message from January, he announced that he was retiring from the music and film industries. Now, Bey has announced his final performances in the United States, as Billboardreports. The final shows will take place at the Apollo Theater in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.; find the full list of dates below. Each performance will reportedly feature “surprise special guests,” and the Kennedy Center shows will be accompanied by post-show parties in the foyer of the venue.
