Nominations for Best Sex Scene, Sketch, and Mystery Wanted!
You may not be able to vote for the Emmys, but you can affect the race for the inaugural Yahooies!, Yahoo TV’s reader voted awards honoring the best of the 2014-15 TV season (including summer shows).
Each day this week, we’ll do a call for nominations for three of our 15 categories. Your picks will help determine the official nominees. Then, starting Aug. 24, we’ll post one category a day with a poll to crown the winner.
Today’s three categories: Best Sex Scene, Best Sketch, and Best Mystery. Suggestions to get you thinking…
BEST SEX SCENE
Yes, yes, Outlander’s first season culminated in an epic battle between Black Jack (Tobias Menzies), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) for Jamie’s soul, but the Starz drama is also known for its epic love scenes. The question isn’t whether it will be nominated in this category, it’s which scene we should pick if we can only choose one: One of the three in the wedding episode, the makeup sex after Jamie punished Claire for getting herself captured and risking others’ lives in her rescue, the pleasant way Jamie woke Claire up the morning afterward, or that memorable outdoor night encounter (pictured)?
BEST SKETCH
What’s eligible: Skits from variety sketch series, such as the Emmy-nominated Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer, Key & Peele, Drunk History, and Portlandia, along with scripted bits from late-night talk shows (no games, sorry Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon). With a total of six Emmy nominations this year, Inside Amy would seem to be a lock for a Yahooies! nod. But again, which sketch?
BEST MYSTERY
Here, you can nominate a case-of-the-week or an arc on a procedural, or a season-long mystery, like what happened to set in motion the big reveal at the end of the Bloodline pilot or who would be named the killer when Hardy (David Tennant) and Ellie (Olivia Colman) finally solved the Sandbrook case in Broadchurch’s second season.
