As Hurricane Florence barrels toward the U.S. East Coast, over 1.5 million people have been ordered to evacuate coastal areas from South Carolina to Virginia. Florence, the first major storm of this hurricane season, has sustained winds of 130 mph, making it a Category 4 storm as of Tuesday. The Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., have declared states of emergency in anticipation of the hurricane’s high winds and flooding.
