XYZ Films Renews Slate Financing Pact With IPR.VC

Indie studio XYZ Films has renewed its financing pact with Finish-based fund management company IPR.VC.

The renewal continues the financial arrangement first struck in November 2019 — a funding pool that has since facilitated 20 productions, including Matthew Johnson’s Blackberry and upcoming Sundance premieres Skywalkers: A Love Story and Krazy House.

“With the uncertainty in the independent market, it’s reassuring to have reliable, long-term financing partners like IPR.VC,” said XYZ CEO Nick Spicer.  “It enables us to continue supporting the films and filmmakers we believe in.”

Established in 2015, IPR.VC has offices in Helsinki and London. The company has thus far raised €150 million from institutional investors, pension funds, family offices, and non-profit sector investors, over half of which has already been allocated against long-term slate-led partnerships and film and television projects in Europe and the US.

“We’re delighted to be continuing our strategic partnership with the XYZ team,” said Timo Argillander, IPR.VC co-founder and managing partner. “They are trusted partners, rightly renowned for supporting creative talent to tell distinctive stories as illustrated by the strength and diversity of their upcoming slate.”

Current titles from XYZ Films with backing from IPR.VC includes the aforementioned Blackberry, starring Gotham and Independent Spirit-award nominee Glenn Howerton, which was released by IFC Films, Atom Egoyan’s TIFF selection Seven Veils, starring Amanda Seyfried, Ash starring Eiza González and Aaron Paul and directed by Flying Lotus, Daniela Forever, directed by Nacho Vigalondo and starring Henry Golding and Beatrice Grannó, and upcoming Sundance premieres Krazy House starring Nick Frost and Alicia Silverstone.
