Teenage Marvel actress Xochitl Gomez showed some promise in the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars,” but she blew that out of the water in week two when she performed a “Latin Night” salsa with her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy. See what the judges had to say about it, and watch it below.

Carrie Ann Inaba: “That was incredible. Salsa is your superpower, my friend. You reminded me of one of my favorite dancers. There was a flash of a young Rita Moreno in there when you flashed that skirt and you came out with the sassy attitude. But not only did you give us style and sophistication, you gave us storytelling and an amazing partnership. So balanced, way to go!”

Derek Hough: “That was so good. Let’s talk about the performance. Obviously you sell it so well. Your focus is exceptional. It really helped sell the dance. I always know where you’re looking, it’s incredible. But also the way you used your arms, the texture in your movement, your spins are out of this world. That was exceptional.”

Bruno Tonioli: “I’m telling you, honey, that was a power salsa, so hot I am melting. Thank you very much for doing an authentic salsa because it’s not just the hips. The armography, the fluidity, the continuity of movement were absolutely superb. Thank you, honey.”

She scored eights across the board for a total of 24 out of 30. That was the highest score of the season up to that point until singer-songwriter Jason Mraz matched it with his rumba at the end of the night. Suffice it to say that both of them were safe when viewer votes were added in. Do you think Gomez has what it takes to win the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy?
