Microsoft is set to host its highly anticipated Xbox Games Showcase next weekend, and ahead of the event, Xbox is promising that it won’t be showing any full CG first-party titles.

Xbox details plans for first-party games at Xbox Games Showcase

In a recent tweet in reply to a fan, Xbox VP of games marketing Aaron Greenberg confirmed that during the Xbox Games Showcase, none of its first-party games will feature full CG trailers. Instead, Greenberg said, everything shown will either be in-game footage, in-engine footage, or feature a small amount of cinematics.

“None of our first-party games in the show are full CG trailers,” Greenberg said. “Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be labeled so it is hopefully clear for our fans.”

This isn’t the first time that Xbox has gone to lengths to make sure that fans know what is and isn’t gameplay in its showcases. Past broadcasts have also featured clear labeling of what to expect, although this year, it seems like Xbox is going all out to make sure fans are only seeing what’s playable.

The Xbox Games Showcase is set to take place on Sunday, June 11, 2023, and will begin at 1 p.m. EST. Shortly after, the showcase will be followed up by a Starfield Direct presentation, which will unveil more information about Bethesda’s highly anticipated upcoming sci-fi RPG.
