X-Men '97 creator confirms Morph confessed feelings for this fellow teammate

The X-Men '97 season one finale gave the fans what we wanted, including confirmation that one X-Man does indeed have romantic feelings for another member of the team!

X-Men '97 is without a doubt the best television show ever released by Marvel, and one of the best comic book adaptations ever — and the three-part finale, titled "Tolerance is Extinction," did not let us down!

In addition to having incredible animated fight scenes, a love story between Charles Xavier and Magneto, classic X-Men teamwork, and a brilliant story, the season finale of the show also gave us confirmation that our favorite nonbinary X-Man Morph has feelings for another member of the team: Wolverine.

At the end of the second episode of the three-part finale, Wolverine stabbed Magneto through the chest, causing Magneto to strip all the metal from his skeleton, leaving him nearly dead.

Throughout the third episode, Wolverine is understandably sidelined, laying in a hospital bed barely hanging onto life. But he's not alone. Next to Wolverine the entire time he's in bed is Morph, the shapeshifting mutant who throughout the series has had a close relationship with him.

As Wolverine barely clings onto life, he calls out for Jean, the woman he loves. After a moment of looking heartbroken to hear Wolverine call out someone else's name, Morph says, "She can't say it, but I can," and shapeshifts into Jean Grey.

"I love you Logan, stay with me," they say. Immediately, Wolverine takes a deep breath, fighting for his life.

The show's fired creator Beau DeMayo took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm what many fans were already thinking.

"Yes, Morph was confessing romantic feelings for Logan," he tweeted.

But this wasn't the first time Morph had shown feelings for Wolverine this season.

Early on, when Wolverine was brooding about being rejected by Jean Grey once again, Morph showed up for him with a six pack of beer and some bags of chips. When Wolverine was uninterested, Morph shifted into Wolverine's arch nemesis Sabretooth, getting a rise and a smile out of Logan as Storm said in voiceover, "Connection is a fragile treasure, one we struggle so much to maintain."

Another time, after some Danger Room practice, Wolverine told Morph to "hit the showers" before saying he was going to "see about a redhead," leaving Morph sadly disappointed. However, they got excited when they thought they saw Logan taking a shower in the locker room, and even shapeshifted some claws of their own, saying, "Logan? One too many redheads for ya? Here, need some help with those hard to reach spaces?"

Unfortunately, that Wolverine was an illusion.

The episode and season ended with most of the X-Men missing and presumed dead after the destruction of Asteroid M. But at the end of the episode we found out that some of them have been transported to the distant past of ancient Egypt, while others have been shot 2000 years into the future, setting up an "Age of Apocalypse" storyline for the next season.

We can't wait for the show to come back so we can see what happens between Wolverine and Morph next!

In the meantime, keep scrolling to see more reactions to the love confession.
