The arrest is just the latest setback for Kelley, who has been in and out of jail amid a string of legal problems stretching back to 2016, when she was arrested for possession of meth

Grace Kelley, the daughter of country star Wynonna Judd, was arrested and booked into an Alabama jail on Friday after she allegedly exposed herself on a busy highway.

Kelley, 27, was booked into the Elmore County Jail on Friday, April 5 at 5:05 p.m. on charges of indecent exposure and obstructing governmental operations, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. Her bond is set at $1,000, and she lists her address as Millbrook, Alabama.

Kelley reportedly “exposed her breasts and lower body” at a busy intersection on Interstate 65 and Highway 14 in Millbrook, then wouldn’t identify herself when officers tried to arrest her, according to charging documents obtained by AL.com. She also reportedly sat down on the road and wouldn’t comply with police.

It remains unclear if Kelley — whom Judd shares with ex-husband Arch Kelley — has an attorney, and a spokesperson for the Millbrook Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The arrest is just the latest setback for Kelley, who has been in and out of jail amid a string of legal problems stretching back to 2016, when she was arrested for possession of meth.

In 2018, when she was 22, Kelley was sentenced to eight years in prison for leaving a court-mandated drug recovery program, thus violating her probation.

The Daily Beast reported that she was released from jail in December 2022, but arrested again in May 2023 on charges of violating an order of protection and restraining order and violating parole. Kelley was jailed again at the time, and reportedly released in October.

In March 2022, she gave birth to daughter Kaliyah Chanel while on a temporary leave of absence from jail, and her mother Wynonna, 59, has since expressed her joy at raising her granddaughter.

“She’s 6 months old and she doesn’t speak yet but she looks right through me,” Judd told the Today show in 2022. “She gives me hope…. They give you hope; they give you something to think about other than yourself. Because so much of what we do is about us, so it’s nice to be with her because she doesn’t care what I look like.”

Judd spoke supportively of her daughter to PEOPLE in 2022, saying Kelley was always the first to correct her.

“Gracie will be the first one to say, ‘Mom, that’s not exactly how it happened,’” she said. “It’s not about judgment, it’s just about calling me out when I get too big for my britches, as they say. And Gracie’s the one that does it.”
