WWII Veteran Wins More Than Hearts On ‘The Great Christmas Light Fight’

The Musgraves of Boulder City, Nev., brought some high energy to The Great Christmas Light Fight. Ryan drew inspiration from his 94-year-old pops, Wild Bill. Wild Bill, a World War II veteran, earned his nickname by surviving cancer and multiple heart surgeries. He’s no stranger to Christmas lights and taught his son a thing or two back in the day.

The Musgraves, and Wild Bill in particular, won the heart of host Taniya Nayak. The lighting of their amazing light display was done by none other than Jingle Cat. Included in the display was a fully operational ski lift.

Other competitors included Jordan Winton, a 15-year-old from Manchester, Tenn., who had a real knack for lighting, given his young age. Other competitors Walter and Jackie Monkhouse became a couple through their mutual love of Christmas lights.

In the end, the Musgraves’ display took home the coveted trophy and the $50,000 prize.

The Great Christmas Light Fight airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
