WWE WrestleMania 39 – Match card, rumours and start time
Its always eventful in the WWE, but 2023 is shaping up to be one of the most crucial in its history – and WrestleMania 39 could be its pivotal moment.
On the heels of Lockdown WWE and the Thunderdome came the exit of Vince McMahon, the rise and rise of Triple H, the rise and wobble of AEW, and then Mr McMahon's shock return, behind the desk at least.

None of the more concerning behind-the-scenes shenanigans seemed to rock things in the ring, at least.
Royal Rumble 2023 was an all-time classic PPV, and one which has set things up very nicely for WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes won the Men's Rumble and has a date with Roman Reigns in his sights. Rhea Ripley did the business in the Women's match and has picked her longtime foe Charlotte Flair.
Meanwhile, Asuka came out of the Elimination Chamber as the challenger for Bianca Belair's Raw crown, and Sami Zaym and Kevin Owens have reunited to take on The Usos.
So we're most definitely excited for the two-day WrestleMania 39, which takes place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California—on Saturday, April 1, 2023 and Sunday, April 2, 2023, with a predicted start time of 8pm ET/5pm PT (1am in the UK each night).
A likely one-hour kick-off show would start at 6pm ET/3pm PT (11pm in the UK eac night).
What's the full match card and predictions for WWE WrestleMania 39?
WWE SmackDown Women's Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs Rhea Ripley
When Rhea Ripley won the Women's Royal Rumble Match this year, she took very little time in choosing Charlotte Flair as her opponent.
Part of the reason was surely the chance to avenge her loss from WrestleMania 36, but we think that Mami also wants to take down the undisputed Queen of the WWE.
Charlotte Flair has racked up almost as many titles as her old man in a smidgen of the time. She's had her ups and downs and even as current champ doesn't seem to be dominating the story.
But Rhea knows that if she's gonna be number one, it's Charlotte Flair that she's going to take down.
And given the backing of The Judgment Day and her own formidable talent, she's absolutely going to do it, too.
PREDICTION: Rhea Ripley
WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) (c) vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
We've predicted that Roman Reigns will hold on to his crown, but we don't think the rest of The Bloodline will be so fortunate.
Maybe the only team with as much history as The Usos are Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Their relationship feels every bit as familial as Jimmy and Jey.
They've had more ups and downs that the Usos over the years, but in the here and now it feels like their bond may be stronger than the biological brothers.
There's so much hatred and vengeance and backstory built up that this will be utterly explosive.
We're calling it now that this'll be the match of the whole weekend, and KO and SZ are gonna come out on top.
PREDICTION: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
WWE United States Championship: Austin Theory (c) vs John Cena
There were burbles of this match being lined up for quiet a while, but when it was finally set in stone we weren't disappointed.
Austin Theory had a few false starts, but now had a title around his waist and something to finally back up all that bravado – with or without Vince McMahon in his corner.
John Cena is... well, he's John Cena.
He's suggested that win or lose, Austin Theory's already lost this because of his inability to say anything on that all-important Raw After WrestleMania.
More importantly, does he really have the skill and savvy to put down someone as experienced and talented as Big Match John?
We're going to pick Theory not just to win this, but also to put Cena AND the WWE Universe in their place come Monday night.
PREDICTION: Austin Theory
Seth 'Freakin' Rollins vs Logan Paul
Okay, let's get this out the way first.
Logan Paul is an excellent wrestler.
I don't want that to be true. You don't want that to be true. But it's true.
Sure, he's not gonna be the guy out there on the road 300 days a year entertaining House Show crowds, but that's not what he's there for.
Logan Paul is there to annoy everyone by being a pillock on WWETV, and then turn up on PPV and put on bangers.
He's going to do just that, but Seth 'Freakin' Rollins is absolutely forewarned and forearmed, and he's going to walk out the winner here.
PREDICTION: Seth 'Freakin' Rollins
Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus and Lita vs Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY)
It's a shame there's no gold on the line here, but maybe with this much star power and raw talent on show it's not necessary..
Becky, Trish and Lita are each generational talents, and the latter two are still both more than capable of lighting up a WrestleMania match as a singles star.
Meanwhile, Damage CTRL are still struggling to make the impact that they threatened after their debut.
But with all that said, we think the established trio are going to finally get that explosive win they need to (re)kickstart things and the all-stars will consequently implode, with some interesting recriminations.
PREDICTION: Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY)
Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio has been jonesing for this match for AGES, but his dad wasn't having any of it.
No matter what the provocation or indignity, Rey refused to trade blows with his son.
But then came that disrespect for Mrs Mysterio, and that was the line that Dom should never have crossed.
Rey will look to publicly discipline his wayward progeny, but on his Hall of Fame Induction Mania, we think he'll be stunned by just how far the apple's fallen from the tree in terms of the depths that Dom will stoop to to cheat a win.
PREDICTION: Dominik Mysterio
Men's WrestleMania Showcase Match: Braun Strowman & Ricochet vs The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis) vs The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar)
As above, we're not expecting anything too serious here, just a lot of flips, falls and fun.
As for the winner, well Braun Strowman can win a WrestleMania tag team match with an eight year old boy in his corner, so we think having a properly talented foil like Ricochet should make things even easier.
The little 'n' large team to edge out the more established tag teams.
PREDICTION: Braun Strowman and Ricochet
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs Cody Rhodes
Ever since Cody Rhodes left AEW, it's been forecast, predicted and written that he'll be The One to FINALLY knock Roman Reigns off the Head of the Table.
His horrific industry knocked him off that course, but it seemed to be only a matter of time before he'd get back on the treadmills.
So when he won the Royal Rumble, it looked set in stone. He'll finally get the big one that eluded his dad. Finally make Dusty proud.
And you know what, he will. Just not at WrestleMania. Not yet.
Put SummerSlam in your calendars for when Cody will show that he can overcome another setback.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns
WWE Raw Women's Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs Asuka
We never like to count out Asuka, and since her latest return she's looked as impressive as ever.
She's a three-time top-tier champ and doesn't lose often, and seems to be on a roll of unstoppable momentum.
But opposite her is someone with just as much raw ability and pure strength.
It's been a full year since Bianca became the champ by dethroning Becky Lynch and you know what, we think she's going to surprise a few people by hanging on to the title for at least a little longer.
PREDICTION: Bianca Belair
WWE Intercontinental Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre [Triple Threat Match]
They teased a 1vs1 but this is the match we all wanted. We cannot imagine anything more hard-hitting than these three fellas slapping lumps out of each other for half an hour.
GUNTHER is the man holding the gold, but that doesn't count for much in a Triple Threat Mach.
GUNTHER doesn't need to be pinned or submitted to lose his hard-won and hard-retained title, and will be very much aware of that and not want to let either Sheamus or Drew out of his sight.
But that's easier said than done, and with the history the Irishman and Scot have together and apart, there's every chance that GUNTHER will lose his belt without being involved in the finish.
Drew is a top-tier talent and recent top-tier champion, and that will give him the edge over his longtime sparring partner.
PREDICTION: Drew McIntyre
Brock Lesnar vs Omos
The whispers were that Brock Lesnar turned down a chance to fight Bray Wyatt in favour of this matchup with the legit giant that is Omos.
No-one is expecting a classic here, or anything approaching it, but there's still likely plenty of entertainment to be had.
Can Omos leverage his sheer size to overcome the massive gap in experience (and to be honest, skill and strength) and surprise The Beast Incarnate?
While it would be a delightful shock if so, we just can't picture it.
PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar
Edge vs 'The Demon' Finn Bálor [Hell in a Cell Match]
Finally! It seems as though Triple H has made good on the promise that the big gimmick matches aren't going to be devalued by having their own calendar-ordained PPV.
So now we've got a Hell in a Cell match that comes at the right time for the feud, not just because it's October or whatever,
This one has been brewing for a long long while, ebbing and flowing away.
In theory the HIAC stipulation will stop shenanigans. In practice, nearly every Cell match from the first one on has shenanigans.
But however much friends and family get involved, we're seeing this one as the full stop on this feud, and we're also seeing a shock.
A rare loss for The Demon. Some time out to lick his wounds and reconsider his life choices.
And a possible start to a final hurrah for the Rated R Superstar.
Women's WrestleMania Showcase Match: Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez vs Natalya and Shotzi vs Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler vs Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville
I mean, this could go any which way, right?
We're going for the mix of youth and experience offered by the team of Natalya and Shotzi, with the former looking perhaps build up to one final assault on the Raw or SmackDown Women's Championship.
Whatever happens it should be an absolute riot
PREDICTION: Natalya and Shotzi
