WWE Superstar Gunther has raised doubts about Brock Lesnar’s return to the ring. This further casts uncertainty over a potential dream match between the two wrestling titans.
The serious allegations against Vince McMahon, which implicated Lesnar despite his not being directly named, left the wrestling community stunned. Allegations arose from a former WWE employee filing a lawsuit, claiming McMahon offered her sexual services to Lesnar during contract negotiations between WWE and Lesnar. This resulted in WWE scrapping creative plans for Lesnar’s return. This includes a rumored appearance at the Royal Rumble 2024 and a dream match slated for WrestleMania 40.
Speaking to GVWire, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther expressed his openness to the possibility of facing Lesnar in the ring but acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Lesnar’s future with the company. He stated, “I always was vocal about my dream match in the past, but that fell through now. I don’t know if we’ll see Brock again if that’s ever going to happen. But I’m wide open when it comes to that as of now.”

The repercussions extended beyond the ring and affected WWE’s video game collaborations as well. They removed Lesnar from WWE 2K Supercard’s roster and discounted his merchandise on WWE Shop. They also changed the cover of the highly anticipated WWE 2K24 game, replacing Lesnar with John Cena.
Brock Lesnar was reportedly set to face Gunther at WrestleMania 40
Although Brock Lesnar is not directly named in the allegations, reports from the Wall Street Journal suggested that he was the individual referred to as the “WWE Superstar” and “former UFC Heavyweight Champion” involved in the accusations.

Lesnar was scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber and then have a match with current Intercontinental champion Gunther. However, the anticipated dream match between Lesnar and Gunther has been scrapped. WWE seems to be distancing itself from Lesnar until the legal proceedings are resolved.
